Ali Brown is an entrepreneur, business consultant and publisher. Her words of wisdom are:
“It’s important you seek out other business owners for information, advice, support and resources.”
This rags to Richtastic story starts off like they all do, dead end job and the will and the determination to step out and do it on her own. Brown changed her destiny when she quit her job and immersed herself in books on marketing and success.
In 1998, equipped with her brother’s hand me down computer she launched her first marketing agency called AKB Communications. The kitchen table became her place to prep dinners and make power moves.
Brown was determined to make it work; she maxed out her credit cards and cleaned out her bank account. Through many struggles, Brown finally found her voice and built a huge empire to be admired.
Ali’s proficiency at marketing her business via e-mail newsletters or e-zines earned her the moniker “Ezine Queen”. This lead to projects with prestigious clients such as New York Times Digital, Adweek Magazines, Scholastic Books, and Dun & Bradstreet.
Brown’s advice to anyone thinking to be become an entrepreneur,
“Entrepreneurship isn’t for everyone. Every definition of entrepreneur I’ve found includes the word ‘risk’.”
For those who are willing to take the leap of faith, she advises:
“It’s important that you seek out other business owners for information, advice, support and resources. Today, would-be entrepreneurs have the Internet and social media, and it’s a great place to get started learning more about how to grow a business.”
CEO of Ali International LLC, she has created a dynamic enterprise that is devoted to empowering women entrepreneurs around the world and currently has over 50,000 members in her online and offline programs.
Richastic tip, you do not live in a vacuum, seek out formal (in-person) and informal (books, online) mentors to help you along your journey.
